In other words, in a mirror, check out 9/18/74 for a great Keith show- and an unheralded PITB from 10-9-72 was a revelation, and has a great Keith solo at the 9 minute mark.

Can you tell me other great Keith moments?

Yep- two big influences- once took a class as an undergrad at unbeaten, untied) Rutgers University in which the entire semester was spent discussing one book- Gravity's Rainbow. I never did get around to taking the other single book class- Finnegan's Wake- but since I attended recently that's okay

Gravity's Rainbow - the most utterly satisfying yet maddening books i have ever read (been years). Absolutely incredible work of literature. Funny, disgusting, complicated, fascinating, and confusing as hell. 800+ characters - how in god's name does a reader follow that??

I'm jealous you actually got to take a course in it - i never got that opportunity for whatever reason - hope you enjoyed it - must have been a total blast. Talk about a book open to discussion - lol.

anywho - Pynchon's new one is coming out in a few weeks - cant wait :)

Actually the name of the class was Literature and Science/Technology. The right combination of natural and pharmaceutical agents allowed me to "comprehend" at an adequate level- the professor, Paul Miers, was brilliant- and that automatically disqualified him from getting tenure. He discussed Bentham as one of the forebearers of the thoughts coming into fruition with Pynchon in that book-

I think the other guys are going to tell us to get a room or take this off line... : )

A quest from the other side, done with smoke, and more importantly, mirrors. Lately Mr. Earl has been caught up in the Spring of '72 time warp. These shows have Keith and Pig together and Donna is absent for most. Unfortunately, the keys are always very light in the mix and it requires some focus to listen for the parts.

'72 is probably too well documented, but the whole tour is worthy of a listen for some hidden pearls. (Like 4/11 - with Jerry playing pedal steel on LLR, against Pigs B3.) Not often noted is Phil's harmony singing which is near excellent on this whole run.

Show is excellent, Keith's playing is amazing. I agree that Keith is often not given the full credit he deserves. While quieter and more subtle than following key players, Keith was all about nuance and style. True, there were songst that never really came to life until Brent unleashed the B3 on them, but more benefited from Keith's quiet beauty.
Oh, yeah, how long did that take you? Too much spare time on your hands? Wait, if I'm writing this I am guilty as the next guy.
